Family Bathroom Remodel
This client was approaching retirement and considering downsizing from the family home - a desirable Regency property in a seafront location.
However, with a strong sentimental attachment to the property and adult children still living at home, moving was not going to be an immediate possibility. In the interim, she chose to add value to the property with a sympathetic remodel of the small, dated family bathroom which was dominated by a seldom-used bathtub, and had a tiny shower cabinet. With a large, east-facing sash window, managing privacy and creating a warm atmosphere were also a priority.
During the strip-out of the bathroom, old leaking pipework was replaced, floors were leveled and reinforced. Updates to hot water supply, the shower pump and electric lighting were also required.
A wall-hung vanity unit with multi-drawer storage now caters to multiple users, and a wall-hung WC with concealed cistern leaves the limited floor area clear and easily-cleaned. Natural stone-effect tile with tumbled edges on the floor and in the walk-in shower create a soft ambiance, while electric underfloor heating and a contract-rated extractor fan help keep the air moisture-free in this high-ceiling bathroom, which is also used for clothes drying on a pulley-operated Sheila Maid dryer.
